In 2006, the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce took the initiative to create a forum
for the Not-for-Profit Council to exchange ideas, information, and educational opportunities.
Not-For-Profit organizations come together to interact with each other and advance themselves
for the betterment of our community as a whole. The Council reaches over three hundred non-profit
organizations throughout Miami County.
Some of the programs over the past year included seminars on the topic of:
- Fundamentals of Grant Writing with panelists from the: DP&L Foundation, Duke Foundation / Columbus Foundation, ITW Foundation, Miami County Foundation, The
Troy Foundation and United Way of Troy, Ohio Inc.
- The new IRS 990 Form – redesigned to promote transparency and accountability.
- How to promote charitable giving in a down economy.
The Not-For-Profit Council also hosts a bi-annual Miami County Not-For-Profit
Expo.
